Passport renewal
It is a requisite to have your valid identity card when you apply for a passport renewal. The request of passport renewal must be send by postal mail to the Consulate. In order to start with your process you must send to the Consulate the following documents:
- Photocopy of both sides of your valid identity card.
- Expired passport and photocopy of the first three pages
- One recent passport photo (3.5 cm x 4.5cm).
- "Request Passport Renewal” form signed.
- Receipt of deposit for US$ 3 (corresponding to US$2 of consular fee for a new passport, and US$1 for the tax meter machine maintenance consular fee) at Bank of Montreal, account N°0005-4608-520, “Embassy of Costa Rica, Consular Services”. If you make the deposit by wire transfer, you must add US$14 for banking service charges. Cash payments are not accepted at the Consulate.
- A pre-paid envelope in order to return to you the Passport once it has been renewed.
